Type Locality and Naming
Along the Kshikaindy River, Dzhebaglytau Mountains, western part of the Talas Alatau. O.I. Sergunyukova, 1959 (382, p. 64). Stratotype along the Kshikaindy River, a left tributary of the Dzhebagly River. Middle formation in Pskem Gr.
Synonym: Kshikandinskaya Suite, Кшиканидянская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Thin-bedded silicified and clayey limestones with layers of siliceous shales and argillites. Predominantly bryozoan-detrital clayey limestones. Characterized by strong diagenetic silicification of clayey-argillaceous layers, with organic remains (up to 50-70%) as the main component of the rocks, represented by rock-forming bryozoans and crinoids. Thickness: 200-250m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformably overlies the Irisuy Fm
Upper contact
conformably overlain by the Kibray-Carb Fm (Tkachev et al., 1992f.; 1996f.; 439).
Regional extent
Southwestern spurs of the Talas Alatau, Ugam, Pskem, Sandalash, Koksu, Chatkal Ranges, Karatau, Karzhantau Mountains.
